The Hague large camera plate is only required when using a tall camera on previous versions of the Hague K2, K2WS or K8 camera jib. This is the same plate as supplied with current versions of these jibs.
On these cranes the camera must be correctly positioned for the height of the camera and the standard camera plate provides the required amount of adjustment for most cameras. We have though found that some of the new taller cameras can cause the tilt control cable to slip and then the camera tries to swivel upside down. This happens because the camera is top heavy, and it can usually be rectified by moving the supplied camera plate to its lowest position, but with some of these larger & taller cameras you may find the camera is still top heavy, front heavy or back heavy.
The optional larger camera plate replaces the jibs existing camera plate and it holds the camera lower down on the tilt pulley which prevents the camera being top heavy. It is also wider to give more clearance for wide cameras and the camera can be adjusted forward or back to prevent the camera being front or back heavy. This improves the balance of the camera and prevents the risk of the tilt control cable slipping.
Please note the camera set-up must not exceed the maximum recommended weight limit for the jib.
